What Is a Baby Monitor?

A baby monitor lets you see and hear your baby from another room using a camera and a dedicated parent unit. For most parents, the everyday decision comes down to the view they want, the number of rooms they need to watch, and whether they may add cameras or replace a part later.

VAVA's baby monitor lineup includes 5-inch 720P systems, a two-camera Split Screen option, an 8-inch 1080P monitor, and model-specific replacement parts and add-on cameras.

Why Choose a VAVA Baby Monitor?

VAVA baby monitors are designed around a dedicated parent unit for practical check-ins at home. Depending on the model, you can choose a simple 5-inch 720P setup for one nursery, two live views for two spaces, or an 8-inch 1080P display when a larger view matters most.

Across the range, key features include day-and-night viewing, two-way talk, and model-specific options for adding compatible cameras later. The right choice is less about finding one monitor that does everything and more about matching the system to your room setup and future needs.

How to Choose the Right Baby Monitor

Start with the way you will use the monitor most often:

  • One Main Nursery
Choose a simple 5-inch 720P system for everyday viewing.
  • Two Rooms, Two Children, or Two Angles
Choose a Split Screen system with two included cameras.
  • A Larger View
Choose an 8-inch 1080P system when screen size and picture detail are your first priorities.
  • A Specific 5-Inch PRO System
Choose the 720P PRO when its upgraded-chipset and extended-battery positioning are what you are looking for.
  • An Existing VAVA System
Check your model number before buying an add-on camera or replacement screen.
System Best for What stands out Camera or accessory path
Standard 720P One main nursery Straightforward 5-inch 720P everyday setup Classic 720P compatible camera path
720P PRO A specific 5-inch PRO system Upgraded-chipset and extended-battery positioning Separate from the Classic 720P system
Split Screen Two rooms, two children, or two angles Two included cameras and two live views on one parent unit Compatible 720P camera expansion, up to four cameras
8-Inch 1080P A larger display and 1080P picture detail 8-inch 1080P display IH020 accessory path

Already Have a VAVA Monitor? Choose Accessories by Model

Before buying a replacement screen or add-on camera, check the model number on your existing system. VAVA monitor accessories are not interchangeable across every monitor line.

  1. Classic 720P or Split Screen: VA-IH006 / VA-IH009
The 720P Add-On Baby Cam and the 5-inch Parent Unit work with VA-IH006 and VA-IH009. The 5-inch Parent Unit is a replacement screen, not a complete monitor set.
  2. 8-Inch 1080P System: VA-IH020
The 1080P Add-On Baby Cam is for VA-IH020 only. It does not work with the 720P monitor systems or the 5-inch Parent Unit.
  3. 720P PRO System
The 720P PRO is a separate system. It is not compatible with the Classic 720P Baby Monitor IH006 or other VAVA monitor systems, so choose accessories designed for the PRO system.

FAQs

Is a 5-inch baby monitor enough for most parents?

For many families, yes. A 5-inch screen is usually enough for one main nursery and everyday check-ins. A larger screen may be a better fit when you want more picture detail at a glance.

Is the 720P PRO a better fit than a standard 5-inch baby monitor?

Choose the 720P PRO when you specifically want its upgraded-chipset and extended-battery positioning in a 5-inch 720P format. Choose the standard 720P monitor when you want a straightforward everyday 5-inch system. The two systems follow different compatibility paths.

When does Split Screen make more sense than a larger display?

Choose Split Screen when seeing two children, two rooms, or two angles at the same time matters more than having the largest single view. Choose the 8-inch 1080P monitor when you care most about screen size and picture detail from one main camera.

Can I add more cameras to a VAVA baby monitor?

Some VAVA monitor systems support up to 4 compatible cameras, but compatibility depends on the model you start with. The 720P Add-On Baby Cam is for VA-IH006 and VA-IH009, while the 1080P Add-On Baby Cam is for VA-IH020 only.

Where should a baby monitor camera go in the nursery?

Place the camera where you have a clear view of the crib. Keep cords and monitor parts at least 3 feet away from where your baby sleeps, and follow the setup instructions in your model's user manual.
